Who am I

Wasson! My name is Rufus Rogers and I'm current studying Marine and Natural History photography at Falmouth University. From being a young creature growing up in Wiltshire, I always wanted to be outdoors and exploring everywhere I could. Being staggered by photography, I took it seriously at school, managing to get by A levels just using my phone. Thats where the real passion started and along with my Cornish roots, has lead me to pursuing it properly on the south coast.

I am certainly most happy when I'm behind the lens looking for wildlife. Whether its walking the long fields of the Marlborough downs or hanging off cliffs of the Cornish coast, I'm always looking for my next subject to shoot. As long as I'm outside surrounded by nature, I am as happy as can be. But if I had to choose, birds of prey are my favourite to go and find!

More about me

Now if im not suited and booted, looking for birds, you'll probably catch me doing my other passion, skating. Since I was 10, I have spent much of my life on wheels, always learning new tricks. But, this connects very closely to wildlife, constantly needing patience and perseverance.

I also love anything with an engine, especially cars. I like learning how things work and why, which has led me to learn all about wildlife. My dream car is a green 1965 Mini Cooper S, which fuels me to work hard. I also very much like coffee, never turning down hand crafted caramel latte by the beach to watch the sunset.

I have a deep interest in Cornwall, stemming from family roots and now turning into an obsession since being at University. I find the landscape fascinating, offering habitats for wildlife you cant get anywhere else. It also homes a wide variety of wintering birds which creates amazing opportunities. I also never forget that its jam on first!

My Mission

Over the last few years, I have learned so much about photography and wildlife. But this is only the beginning. I would love to travel far and wide, specifically to the Arctic and Africa to photograph such diverse wildlife on our planet. My dream would be to make a series about owls from across the globe.

However, I think its also important to tell our own stories, and of places that are meaningful to us. I want to create amazing images of all wildlife within the British Isles, telling new stories that have yet to be told. I want to find new ways to show animals as main characters within their own stories, rather than just the background of ours.

In the next few years, I want to become a specialist in telling wildlife stories and showing the beauty of what nature holds. Join me as I explore what Britain has to offer!
